Why… why did I have to get a toothache on the day of my best friend (insert name of boy or girl) birthday? I couldn’t eat a thing at the party and had to come home early. It wasn’t exactly fun standing around with my face all swollen and tears running down my face from the pain.

(Holds up the piece of cake)

They gave me this bit of birthday cake but I guess I’ll have to wait to eat it.

Ow, ow ow!

It really, really hurts.

Mum’s made an appointment at the dentist for tomorrow. I don’t know what’s worse – a toothache or having to go to the dentist. I hate that drill thing, and keeping my mouth open for hours and hours, and all sorts of things poked inside.

Ow, ow, ow!

(Sits on chair with cake on knees)

No, no, that’s not my tooth, that’s my stomach. I am SOOO hungry. And this cake looks so good. It’s a chocolate cake which is my favourite and it has things on the top that look delicious.

(Wails)

I am so hungry!

But I know what will happen. I’ll bite down on this and ……

(Jumps up)

No, no, no! No more torture today. I’ll wait ’til tomorrow when I see the dentist for some REAL torture.
