Wragg is a witch with definite ideas, especially about what she has for breakfast. When she acquired a box of cereal from some backpackers who had stayed with her, she decided to try it against her better judgment. Imagine her surprise when, after pouring milk over it, the cereal goes, Snap, CACKLE, pop! Guess what is her favourite breakfast food these days?
WRAGG THE WITCH
by Michele Lourie c. 2016
Wragg the witch climbed out at dawn
From the wrong side of the bed,
Giving her broomstick such a fright
That it landed on Wragg’s head.
The black cat tangled up her feet
And she crashed down on her rump,
The spell she tried went all awry,
Now Wragg really had the hump!
Witches only eat special food
Like newts, and toads are tops
But Wragg’s cupboard was bare except for a box
Of something called cocoa pops.
Wragg remembered when Hansel and Gretel had come
To visit one dark stormy night
They had brought some food in their little backpacks
And offered Wragg a bite.
Then she’d refused, but now her tum
Had an ache that would not stop.
So she poured on the milk and was quite surprised
When the cereal went “Snap, CACKLE, pop!”
