Time Zone Fever

$3.00

How thrilling is a video game that calls upon the player to expend the utmost in concentration and skill.

This is an excellent poem for choir work. The dynamics suit group speaking, and there are opportunities for solo voices within the framework. The excitement of winning a video game is well-expressed.

Swipe the card

Step up and grab

The control levers in a firm grip.

Press the button

Concentrate

An internal voice yells – let it rip!

We’ve come here today

In order to play

The game we consider the best.

It’s a game of real skill

If we win then the thrill

Will be greater than all of the rest.

Steady the footing

Swinging and swaying

Light-flashing circles on the console.

The vehicle takes off

Turbo boosted

To finish a winner the goal.

Immersed in excitement

We savour the moment

Our eyes, ears and brains are in thrall

Retaining the focus

So nothing can baulk us

We’re enjoying our backs to the wall.

Watch out the left side

Lower the frame

That bend is approaching so fast.

Slipping and sliding

Crazy riding

That’s at least ten opponents we’ve passed.

Our score keeps on rising

The technique amazing

Just a couple of frames to the end

We’re winning, we are winning –

Oh no, now we’re spinning

Out of control on that bend.

We walk away tired

And yet, still inspired

To conquer it next time,

WE WILL!
