The Hard Sell

$3.00

An Outback poem describing a son’s attempt to get his father to move from the land to the city.

The Hard Sell : 7 stanzas each of 4 lines about a son from the city trying to bring his father home from the Outback.

The ‘slicker’ mopped his sweaty brow
And said, “By George, it’s hot!”
The bushie hunkered in the shade
Responded with, “It’s not.”

The other squinted round the plain,
“It’s awfully dry out here!”
From underneath the sweat-stained hat
Came – “Wettest time of year.”
