This computer seems to be taking over my world, and it is hungry. 5 stanzas of 4 lines each
THE HUNGRY COMPUTER
Michele Lourie c 2016
You’ll never believe what happened to me
In the middle of the night,
I woke from a dream – a nightmare it was
That left me shaking with fright.
I checked out the room where everything
Seemed ordinary quite,
But the strangest feeling stayed with me
That something was simply not right.
It was then that I noticed to my dismay
My computer’s blinking light
And the sparks it emitted that made my eyes water,
They were so terribly bright.
It growled and it hissed like an angry cat
About to start a fight,
I pulled up the blankets around my head
And held them really tight.
“I’m ravenously hungry,” it shouted out
With all a computer’s might,
“If I don’t get something, I’m going to eat
All my chips, byte after byte.”
