Don’t ever let a celebrity-hungry dog into a Flea Circus. 5 stanzas of 4 lines each.
THE FLEA CIRCUS
Michele Lourie c 2016
Hooray, hoorah and hoopla
The circus has come to town
But it’s not your ordinary circus
This one is without a clown.
For this is a circus of fleas
The tiny little things
Who can jump so very high
As though they were puppets on strings.
We all went to see this circus
But just as it was to begin
Everyone started to run, yell and shout,
Chasing something from the ring.
Amongst all the noise and kerfuffle
We saw what was causing the row
A dog had come into the small tent
And stood up to make a bow.
Then the Master of Ceremonies came forward
To announce in a voice so low
No circus today with the fleas gone away,
That dog had stolen the show.
