Where would you tickle an orange? Perhaps his navel!

A ticklish orange? So, where would you tickle him?

THE DISAPPOINTED ORANGE

By Michele Lourie

An orange sat in a large ornate bowl

Surrounded by all types of fruit.

But he wasn’t friends with anyone there,

If approached he stayed totally mute.

“Why is it that great big orange

Never will smile at us?”

The passionfruit lad was told to ‘shush’

And not to make a fuss.

A pear softly explained to all those near,

“That orange has had a sad life.

He’s been trying for such a very long time

Bust has never found a wife.”

“He’ll never attract a wife with that face,”

Granny Smith hastened to say.

“Every lady orange who’s come to this bowl

Has rolled round the other way.”

The passionfruit thought long and deeply,

“I know how to get him to smile,”

With excitement he swelled out his purple skin,

“I’ll tickle his navel for a while.”
