THE ELEPHANTS ON THE ARK

Noah was terribly worried
Looking over his busy ark.
The animals were still getting settled
And it would soon be dark.
The smallest creatures like fleas and mites
Had gathered along the sides,
While the centre held rhinos, giraffes and bears,
And the tigers and lions with prides.
Luggage limits had been set by the captain
According to gender and size,
But when the elephants turned up
Noah could not believe his eyes.
While the rest of the animals boarded
All carrying bags that were bulging,
The pachyderms were unencumbered.
They appeared to have not a thing.
They were asked why they’d come empty-handed
Before they climbed into their bunks,
“Oh no, apart from the kitchen sink
We’ve all that we want in our trunks.”
