Father Centipede’s budget is looking very dreary when he has to buy shoes for his large family.
THE BUDGET
Michele Lourie 2016
Father Centipede’s budget was looking quite drear
Paper discards were strewn all about,
His wife and their children – twenty in all,
Had been warned not to run, jump or shout.
He would curl in a ball, then squish himself flat
And mutter things like “What the heck!”
His wife was alarmed, as he would not be calmed
She could see him becoming a wreck.
“Now dear,” she said softly, “it can’t be that bad.”
Afraid that his temper he’d lose.
He cried, “Tell me then, where’s the money we need,
To buy one thousand pairs of kids’ shoes?”
