FIGHTING (A rap poem)

by Elise O’Brien c 2005

Fists up – bang, crash

Karate chop – heeyah!

Head lock – smack down

I win!

There’s a thundercloud that’s growing

While lightning strikes abound.

An angry wind is blowing

With a booming, warring sound.

Chorus 1

Then a cyclone blows right through you

With a force that lays you low

As the waves of deep misfortune

Follow life’s great ebb and flow.

Chorus 1

When you feel your temper rising

You should look for gentle rain

To cool and quench the thirsting

And bring peaceful thoughts again.

Scissors, paper, rock

We can find a way.

Scissors, paper, rock

Let’s not fight, let’s play.

Let’s work it out together

Let’s find a better way.

We’ll be friends forever

If we work things out today.

Chorus 2
