Dust to Dust

$3.00

A poem about robbers in Egypt.

Dust to Dust : 22 lines of Blank Verse about grave robbers in a pyramid.

Deceitful darkness ebbs and flows from the swinging lantern’s rays.
Ancient motes of dust twist and tumble in the feeble light
like mute, microscopic acrobats.
The odour of death has long since dissipated
yet Death’s presence is overpowering, almost palpable,
stifling the harsh breathing of the interlopers
as they go about their sacrilegious business.
Stone grinds stridently on stone
rending the silence as the sarcophagus is forced open.
