A Bushie’s Sunset : 11 stanzas each of 4 lines describing the last hours of a Bushie’s life.
He sat upon the worn, stone steps
With old Rusty by his side
And they watched the sunset fading
While the kettle boiled inside.
He cast his mind back to the years
When his back was straight and strong;
When fists would force one’s fellow-men
To admit that they were wrong.
When women always got respect;
Men raised hats and opened doors.
When they would volunteer as one
Just to fight their country’s wars.
