(Enters carrying a dress that is obviously too small and holds it up to be seen. A chair is placed centre stage)
I am absolutely, definitely, certainly, will wear this dress to the end-of-year dance if it’s the last thing I do.
(Cheerfully as she places dress over the back of the chair)
I only have to lose 3Ks in the next 3 weeks – that’s only 1K a week. That should be as easy as pie. Oops, why did I mention ‘pie’?
Dr. Jensen has given me this diet to follow and it looks good – lots of fruit and vegetables – I love all of that.
But what’s this he’s written at the bottom?
(Reads)
“No cake, biscuits or soft drink.”
No cake? But it’s my birthday next week and Mum has promised me a party for all my friends and with my favourite cake with lots of cream ……
(Looks dreamy at the thought then scolds herself)
Stop it! Just stop it! I have to stop talking about food.
(Picks up the dress)
If I want to wear this, and of course I definitely, certainly, absolutely do, then I have to make sacrifices.
So do I ask Mum to cancel the party? Or do I wear the dress I wore last year to the dance?
Oh I don’t know, I certainly, definitely, absolutely can’t decide.
(Holds dress up and shifts it from side to side as she speaks)
