WIND
By Michele Lourie c 2016
The wind enters howling
A banshee’s cries
Gusting and soughing
Tumble-turning the skies.
It snatches my hat
Twirling, whirling
Flying far and further
Joyously looping
This way and that.
Loose leaves leap-frog
Dust up-scooping
Over the yard racing
Panting, panting
The dog gives chase.
High on the hill
Shoving, buffeting
A puppet-like figure
Pushing, pulling
At the wind’s will.
On a pole the flag flaps
Steadily slapping
Merrily dancing
Rapping, rapping
Rhythmical claps.
Clothes hoist merry-go-round
Joyfully shrieking
Children with wings
Skirling, sweeping
Feet skimming the ground.
Through a crack in the floor
Hissing hissing
Comes the intruder
Disdainfully whistling
More …. more ….. more!
