Forgetful

$3.00

How could you get money owed to you, if the debtor does not remember owing it, but uses a loss of memory to escape repayment?

Category:

One friend has had a nasty knock on the head. It appears to have made his/her forgetful, especially about money owed.

FORGETFUL

by Michele Lourie c 2018

Actor 1:          Hello my friend, how are you? I heard you’d just come out of hospital.

Actor 2:          Have I?

Actor 1:          You do have a bandage around your head.

Actor 2:          (feels head) Yes, so I have.

Actor 1:          What were you in for?

Actor 2:          In where?

Actor 1:          The hospital.

Actor 2:          What about it?

Actor 1:          Treatment. What tests did they run?

Actor 2:          (Looks very thoughtful) I don’t think I’ve done a test since last year at school, and I hate running.

Actor 1:          (confused) Okay.

Speaking of school, do you know we’ve only got a week before the holidays finish and we go back.

Actor 2:          Go back where?

Actor 1:          To school. After the holidays.

Actor 2:          What holidays?

Actor 1:          The one’s we’ve just had!

Actor 2:          (pause) What have we just had?

Actor 1:          Holidays – from school!

Actor 2:          What about school?

Actor 1:          Listen carefully. We’re returning in the New Year.

Actor 2:          Returning ‘what’ to ‘where’?

Actor 1:          Hey, did you go to hospital for treatment of memory loss or something?

Actor 2:          Hospital? What hospital?

Actor 1:          The one you just got out of.

Actor 2:          I just got out of where?

Actor 1:          Never mind. Forget I ever said anything. See you later. (exits)

Actor 2:          (calls after) See you later where?

                        (turns to exit and stops)

I just remembered that I owe that girl/boy $20 I borrowed last term.

Funny he/she seems to have forgotten about it! That’s a relief.
