There is a bit of competition between game players about who should be the doctor and who the patient. The player who gets the patient role counters by deciding the next game to be played; they will be undertakers.
DOCTOR & PATIENT
By Michele Lourie c 2017
Two actors enter. Actor 1 speaks as he/she enters.
Actor 1: But can’t we do something else? I hate playing doctor and patient with you.
Actor 2: Why? We always have a lot of laughs when we do.
Actor 1: Mmm, you do!
Actor 2: What are you trying to say?
Actor 1: O.K. Just one more time and promise you’ll be sensible this time……
Actor 2: Great!
Actor 1: ….And you’ll let me choose the next game?
Actor 2: Yep, I promise. I’ll be the doctor.
Actor 1: (resignedly) You’re always the doctor.
Actor 2: Do you want to be the doctor this time?
Actor 1: No, no, you do it.
Actor 2: Right, let’s go.
Actor 1: (Pretends to knock) Hello doctor, I need help.
Actor 2: What seems to be the problem?
Actor 1: The ointment you gave me last time made my arm smart.
Actor 2: Really? Well why don’t you try putting some on your head?
(Laughs loudly)
Actor 1: (indignantly) Hey, you promised you’d play sensibly. Why can’t you just pretend to
be a doctor and treat me?
Actor 2: Treat you? If I treated every patient, I wouldn’t earn any money.
(Laughs loudly)
Actor 1: (very angry) You never, ever, listen to me.
Actor 2: (moving past Actor 1) Next please!
Actor 1: (angrily) I’m going! (Turns to go then stops abruptly) Unless, unless you want to play another game. Remember it is my choice of game this time.
Actor 2: Alright, what do you want to be this time?
Actor 1: An undertaker!
