The Good Drop

$3.00

A Tall Tale poem of a downpour of rain and a city-boy’s trick.

The Good Drop : 13 stanzas each of 4 lines about an understated drop of rain in the Outback.

“We had a drop of rain” he said,

And cracked it for a grin.

We were driving down the main street

With the water leaking in.

“We’ll make it to the higher ground

If the motor doesn’t quit.

It could have been much worse, yer know,

This lot is just a spit!”

I gripped the seat with mounting fear

Quite sure that I would die.

As if to reinforce this view,

A dead cow floated by.
