Enters running with a happy smile on face)

Hello my little ones – have you missed me? Have you?

(Looks expectantly at them, then expression changes to anger – stands with hands on hips)

Where is that naughty Teddy Bear – where is Jerome?

(Crosses her arms)

There’ll be no icecream and jelly for dinner for any of you if I can’t find Jerome.

(Taps foot then throws up arms in disgust)

What am I going to do with you children?

(Paces – shaking head)

I work hard all day at school and when I come home, what do I get? Naughtiness!

(Stops to look directly at one of the dolls)

Don’t make excuses, Mary-Jane. You were the one hiding under the bed yesterday and …

Oh my goodness! There’s Jerome, fast asleep.
